Ironhold Siege

★★★★★ 4.7 Editor rating

Ironhold Siege is the game I keep comparing others to this year. Instead of fixed paths, you partly sculpt the terrain — raising walls, flooding gullies, forcing enemies into chokepoints before a single tower fires. It turns every map into a planning puzzle that you solve twice: once on paper, once under pressure.

The tower roster is lean but each unit has a clear role, and upgrades branch in ways that actually change your strategy rather than just bumping numbers. Touch controls are excellent — dragging walls and placing towers feels precise even on a smaller screen, and the pause-to-plan button is generous.

The late campaign gets genuinely hard, and a couple of maps lean too heavily on one specific build. But the core loop of shaping a battlefield and watching your plan hold is as good as mobile strategy gets right now.
